Translation...
Hello.
My name is Heron.
My family is made up of my wife, and my three wonderful children, two of who are participants in this program. It is very difficult to afford the monthly dues and fees, because my work is not constant and I have an overwhelming amount of expenses at our home, but I know that with some help and a sponsor, my children could partake, enjoy and learn in this exciting activity.
I want to thank you in advance for your help and I hope that my children will continue enjoying and learning the wisdom and discipline that this program teaches them.
Thank you for your help.
Heron
In August of 2010, Heron and his family were walking past the Santa Barbara Buddhist Temple and saw the small sign half-way hidden behind the shrubs:
Heron's wife had previously heard about the Aikido group and our work with low-income and at-risk children through a story that KPMR TV did about us.
The family decided to come in and ask about our classes. They ended up signing the release form right then and there and letting the two older children try the class.
The boy jumped right into the kids' class and even won some of the races on his very first day. The girl boldly tried out the teens and adults class and didn't appear intimidated in the least, training with adults 2 or 3 times her size!
Heron's wife explained that his work has become very unstable in the current economic climate and that they would only be able to sign up if they could pay on a sliding scale.
Heron and his family are able to pay $100/month - $1200. We're looking for sponsors to pick up the balance - $1465. This covers the balance of monthly dues, and also includes testings for belt promotions, kids summer camp, uniforms and equipment, etc.
We're asking you to make either a one-time donation or a monthly recurring donation of however much you are able so that these children can train with us, reaping the benefits of Aikido training and mentoring, thus making Santa Barbara an even better place!
Even $10 per month makes a difference!
