Kids' Class Members... Adults' Class Members... Other Supporters... Please join us as we work toward building our own dojo again like the one we created together on State Street... We’re a small but growing group of dedicated Aikido students under the direction of Lia Suzuki Sensei. Not too long ago, we lost our training space on lower State Street due to an extreme rent increase. After regrouping and reorganizing as a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we were fortunate enough to find a warm welcome at the beautiful and serene Santa Barbara Buddhist Temple.
But now we're starting to outgrow it! We need our own space again and we're counting on you to help us get it... We offer training and mentoring for adults and children in Aikido, "The Art of Peace" - a nonviolent, Japanese martial art, providing sponsorships and sliding scale for low-income families who would not otherwise be able to participate.
*Participants in a roll-a-thon collect donation pledges from sponsors for a specific value per roll. On the day of the Roll-A-Thon, we’ll be thrown over and over into a roll, trying to do as many as we can, limited only by our stamina and class time.
